Nusrat Revealed (English translations from Punjabi Urdu, Hindi ) 

This California based project is still in progress and aims to publish a large book of songs sung by the celebrated Sufi singer Nursrat Fateh Ali Khan. The songs besides having originals in Gurmukhi, Urdu or Hindi scripts will also have English translations for which an international  team of more than a dozen translators, with backgrounds in English Arabic Punjabi Hindi or Urdu, have been assembled. l am part of the team. (The project is spearheaded by Dr. Vikas Bhushan and Varun Soni of the university of California).

 

 

Bird Talk (English to Punjabi)

The Punjabi translation of this children' book (in Ojibway and English) written by Canadian Native writer Lenore Keeshig-Tobias is still in the manuscript form but has been accepted by Third Eye publications, London, Ontario.

 

 

The Voyage of Komagata Maru (English to Punjabi)

HISTORY; The Oxford University Press, 1979; Punjabi translation by PICS, Surrey, 1989; pages 151

The original is an outstanding BC history book by Professor Hugh Johnston (chair, History Dept., SFU) that was translated by a BC translator into Punjabi. Upon a request from the Publisher (PICS society of Vancouver) I undertook an extensive revision of the translation to bring the language to literary standards.

Translation: Fun and Frustrations (English) Presented this paper at  A Symposium of Poets & Translators organized by the Italian Cultural Institute, Vancouver, 1995. The presentation was supported by the Canada Council.    

Short literary pieces: Have translated literary pieces by several authors including Marilyn Bowering, Margaret Atwood, Surjit Pattar, Michael Bullock, Navtej Bharati, Carolyn Zonalo,   Dr. Jagtar, Mazhar Tirmazi.  

Paragon Languages Services, Los Angles, CA (Punjabi to English) Transcribed and translated a case from Punjabi to English for the California Superior Court. More than 40 pages. Comment from the California Superior Court: "Very pleased with the splendid job you have done."
