The Last Flicker is a translation of the outstanding Punjabi novel, Marhi Da Diva, by Gurdial Singh,  published and distributed by the Sahitya Academy (Indian Academy of Letters), New Delhi. The translation was supported by the Academy as well.

Hindi film, Marhi Ka Diva, starring Raj Babbar and Deepti Naval was based on this novel.

Gurdial Singh is the top most modern Punjabi novelist and has won numerous awards including Sahitya Academy award, Soviet Land award and most recently Gyan Peeth, the highest and most lucrative award in Indian languages.
